About the Artist

Mary Kay West began painting in childhood under the guidance of her mother, a watercolor artist. In 2003 she joined the Fine Arts League of Asheville, studying with Master Artists Ben Long and John Mac Kah. After completing classical drawing and painting studies in 2007, she moved to California to paint full time. West specializes in sharp-focus still life, birds, and trompe l’oeil. Her work has been described as timeless, vibrant, and masterful, and has been shown at American Legacy Fine Arts (Pasadena), Classic Art Gallery (Carmel), and Portico Gallery (Santa Barbara). Her paintings are also in the permanent collection of the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum (Wisconsin). She lives and works in Guadalupe, California, and teaches painting classes in Los Alamos and Santa Barbara. See the artist’s website for more information: https://marykaywest.artspan.com/
